Morsmordre is set during Harry Potter's sixth year at school, however all is not well. Voldemort and his death eaters have been successful in taking over the Ministry. Muggleborns and Half-Bloods are being arrested and taken into the Ministry for questioning. The wizarding world is living in fear, and the only place that seems to be untouched is Hogwarts. With Dumbledore protecting the school an attack has been held off for now, but the threat still exists.
