the story;;
lance knew that he was an attractive guy, and he always had a throng of girls following him around, it seemed. he really wished that he wouldn't. it made other guys resent him, but he was a shy down-to-earth guy. he wasn't the egotistical fluff that his father had been when in his prime.
amelia had always been the shy girl, the one that minded her own business. she did her homework, read her books, and tutored students that needed help on the side for free. though, some insisted upon giving her gifts or galleons in appreciation. she was too polite to say no, but she would much rather do it for free, she insisted.
lance admired her from afar. he thought she was sweet, cute, and very pretty. he liked the way she hid behind her hair, how wide and large her almond shaped eyes were, the way she could never seem to get her tie to lay flat.
lucinda thomas and meredith mclaggen had been friends since birth. so when meredith found out that lucinda liked vance she knew that she had to do something to get the pair together.
"hey, vance," meredith cried, running towards him one day whilst he was at the coffee shop.
"look, i'm not interested in another chocolate frog, mer."
"no, no, this time it's nothing for me, or from me, i swear. it's my friend lucinda, she thinks you're cute, and —."
"no," he interrupted.
"vance, it's not like you to be rude."
"sorry, mer, i'm seeing someone."
when lucinda found out, she was livid. no one told her no! she and meredith plotted and executed plenty of plots to split the pair up. yet none of them broke in between them.
eventually meek little amelia spoke up. "i don't think we should see each other anymore, vance."
"what's the matter?"
"meredith mclaggen and lucinda thomas, they keep hounding me everywhere, and they don't want us together."
"i'll take care of this." vance found the pair directly, and gave them a verbal telling off. "and why would i want someone as nasty and manipulative as either of you? stay away from amelia or there'll be hell to pay."
